I've always felt tipping is a personal choice.
When I go to a teahouse or a coffeeshop I generally tip $1 per person. But at a sit down restaurant I tip 25% because I know the servers only get a very small base rate. If I order delivery (like pizza or chinese food) I tip 25%. But I don't tip on orders that I pickup.

Part of the problem is that employers need to pay their employees enough to live on and not expect their customers to do so.
