Save the date! Registration for Katy Virtual School (KVS) opens Monday, February 1 at 7:00am. KVS is a long-standing program that offers the opportunity for high school students to take advanced courses on their own schedule. Visit their website for more details on courses offered and how to apply: www.katyisd.org/dept /technology/instruct ionaltechnology/katy online/Pages/Ka

*Please note, Katy Virtual School is a separate entity from Katy Virtual Academy (KVA). Registering for KVS is not the same as opting-in for KVA.

Why Take Online Courses through the Katy ISD Virtual School (KVS)?

1. Provide flexibility in scheduling: participate in multiple programs (i.e. Fine Arts, Athletics), earn required credits toward graduation, and explore additional academic interests.

2. Fulfill state required courses for graduation when moving into Katy ISD from outside the state of Texas

3. Provide online learning environments to prepare students for college and career learning

4. Ongoing access to resources to support personalized learning

5. Opportunity to access courses that are not offered on home campus due to low enrollment

6. Allow summer students to attend specialized programs, camps, and explore personal interests

7. Courses are aligned to the Katy ISD curriculum and are taught by Katy ISD teachers.

8. KVS is an approved College Board online provider of Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

9. KVS is an approved NCAA non-traditional provider. Courses count towards initial eligibility.

Interesting. So does anyone know when these classes begin? Is this for the summer? Also, does anyone know what the guidelines are for KISD schools now? I see school buses on the road and I've noticed kids in school, but are they back to 100% in class participation? I was driving by Katy Junior High a couple days ago, heading to an appointment, and the parent drop off line was extremely long at 8:45am. I thought that was pretty late for school, did they change the start time?
It has been a long time since my kids were in school so I'm out of touch with the current school schedule.

I think that each school may have their own protocol. I know at one time the kids were staggering and rotating so it would not be so many in the building at one time. Hope these precautions are still in place.
