Katy ISD Students Shine at 2025 Plein Air Painting Contest

Katy ISD student artists recently participated in the 2025 Plein Air Painting Contest at Willowfork Park, where they spent two and a half hours creating stunning works of art inspired by the park’s natural beauty. Plein air painting is the practice of painting outdoors, capturing the light, color, and atmosphere of a scene directly from life. The students’ creativity and skill were on full display, resulting in exceptional artwork. Congratulations to the winners: Danzel Decamotan from Paetow High School, taught by V. Underwood, who received the Artist’s Choice Award; Amanda Comparato from Morton Ranch High School, taught by Rachel Arnold, who earned Best of Show; and Jaylee Hyle, also from Morton Ranch High School and taught by Rachel Arnold, who received the Award of Excellence.
