PRECINCT 5 IN ACTION: Man Arrested For Neglecting Disabled Son

Katy units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Western Hills Dr. near S. Mason Rd. in reference to a verbal disturbance called in by a third party. Upon our arrival, deputies discovered a male who is diagnosed with schizophrenia wondering around the area and the main roads. The male had poor hygiene and appeared he cannot take care of himself.

When deputies took the disabled male back home, it was found that citizens have called the police more than 20 times regarding the disabled male walking around, attempting to open home doors and responding to welfare checks within the last two months alone. The father was told he needs to care after his son each time the police was called but he refused to do so.

Due to the negligence of the father of the disabled person, charges were accepted by the District Attorney's Office for negligence of a disabled person.

Sad that the father was unable to, or just not taking care of, his disabled son.
