A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with Felony Intoxication Manslaughter following a fatal crash in Katy during the early morning hours of June 23.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 2:20 a.m. to the 24300 block of Westheimer Parkway for a two-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes. Investigators say a white BMW driven by Dejon Fortune, 20, collided with a black Cadillac driven by Sung Bae, 53. Bae was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortune was arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on one count of Felony Intoxication Manslaughter. Bond is pending magistrate review.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Bae as they navigate this heartbreaking loss," said Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan. "Impaired driving continues to claim innocent lives in our community. We urge everyone to make responsible choices and never get behind the wheel while under the influence."

The crash remains under investigation, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.

Thoughts and prayers to the victims family members. These intoxicated drivers do not learn because the consequences are never dealt with bigger fines and jail time. I hope he does not get released any time soon and learns a lesson behind bars. Too many families are affected by drunk drivers.

Prayers for the deceased man's family and friends. Hopefully the drunk driver will not be able to bond out of jail.
