DWI History and Expired License Lead to Arrest in Katy

PRECINCT 5 IN ACTION: Driver Arrested After Traffic Stop In Katy
Constable Terry Allbritton’s Katy deputies were patrolling the Katy area when they observed a small four-door sedan bearing expired temporary license plates from 2024. A traffic stop was conducted in the 400 block of S Mason Rd at Merrymount Dr. where deputies came in contact with a male driver and a female passenger.
The female passenger had a toddler (2 years old) sitting on her lap with no car seat in the car. Upon further investigation, the male had an expired drivers license from 2015, and a previous conviction for driving while license is invalid. He recently had a DWI charge therefore he should not have been driving due to his license being suspended. In addition, the driver did not have insurance on the car.
Multiple traffic violations concluded with the driver being arrested for driving while the license is invalid and a class c warning was issued to the passenger for unsecured child under the age of 8.
Ultimately, family members were contacted to bring a car seat for the minor & CPS was contacted for further investigation.
