Deputies Arrest Sleeping Driver After Atempted Getaway in KatyConstable Terry Allbritton’s Katy deputies responded to the 1500 block of Wickerhill Ways near S. Warmstone Way after receiving a report of a man asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle.Upon arrival, deputies attempted to wake the driver. After several attempts, he woke up and attempted to evade arrest. A short pursuit followed, ending when the driver stopped at a busy intersection on Highland Knolls Drive.Deputies detained the suspect without further incident. During the investigation, the driver initially provided a false name. Once his true identity was confirmed, deputies discovered he had two active warrants for probation violations and was in possession of marijuana.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted, and the driver was charged with evading arrest. He was transported to the Harris County Jail and booked without further incident.
