GRANDVIEW, Mo. - Winco Fireworks International has recalled two fireworks products just days before the Fourth of July, citing risks of serious injury from explosion and burn hazards, according to recall notices shared by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The Grandview, Missouri-based importer recalled about 13,500 units of its Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack fireworks, model number RCLR-W8012.

The recalled candles can malfunction, causing shots to blow out the side of the tube instead of firing upward, according to the notice. The red, white and blue fireworks, sold under a "Hometown" label featuring American flag imagery, measure 21 inches by 1 inch by 3.5 inches and weigh about 2 pounds.

In a second recall, Winco pulled roughly 87,120 units of its Unity 7 Shot 200 Gram Aerial Cake firework devices, model MEF6096.

Those products can tip over during use, posing a similar explosion and burn risk. The Unity fireworks are also sold in a red, white and blue design with American flag imagery and measure 2.9 inches by 2.9 inches by 3.9 inches. Affected units carry date codes between March 16 and May 18, 2026, printed under the barcode on the back of the package.

The recalls come just before one of the busiest fireworks weekends of the year, as many households prepare for Fourth of July celebrations.

Both products were manufactured in China and sold at Pyro City stores and other independent fireworks retailers nationwide. The Roman Candles sold for $17 to $19 between April and June 2026, while the Unity aerial cakes sold for $6 to $8 between January and May 2026. The brand has no affiliation with WinCo grocery stores.

No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with either recall.

Consumers who purchased either product should stop using them immediately and return them to the store where they were bought for a full refund, either in cash or credited to the original form of payment.

Winco can be reached by email at [email protected], or consumers can visit wincofireworks.com and select "Product Safety Recall" for more information and printable recall notices for both products.

Glad we don't ever buy fireworks. We enjoy everyone else's.
