Fireworks on 4th of July! Alternate to the HUGE crowds at Typhoon Texas!

I talked to the hubby and son and they both want to check out the Free Community Fireworks Show for America's 250th Anniversary Celebration!

So we are going! Yay!

The free event is open to the public and will be held on the fields of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1603 Norwalk Drive in Katy. Music begins at 7 p.m., followed by the fireworks display at 9 p.m. Parking will be available at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and at The Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 1530 Norwalk Drive.

You can also park in the Walmart parking lot (my husband tells me they closed down that Walmart, I don't know. But if its true that means more room to park.

There's also a Starbucks there so we plan to get there early, get us a couple of seats outside and sip our coffee.

Thanks for this information. There is always Fourth of July Fireworks viewing from the Katy Mills parking lot, near Typhoon Texas, as well, with many activities during the day.

Sounds like fun! Please be safe crossing the street with all that traffic. That Neighborhood Walmart is closed down but it is across the street from the church. There will be lots of foot traffic and regular vehicle traffic. Happy Fourth everyone!

Yes, it can be viewed from Typhoon Texas and Katy Mills Mall parking lot. I just now saw that it is listed in this Forum for Katy Guide to Weekend Events for this upcoming weekend. All details should be there.

This event posted above is not at Katy Mills Mall! Last year we watched the fireworks from our office parking lot that faces the Waterpark, but we noticed that many of the entrances to the mall were blocked off. Come early to find a good spot and park where it is safe.

It can be viewed from Typhoon Texas and in the Katy Mills Mall parking lot near Typhoon Texas. We always parked in the parking lot and had a great view of the fireworks. It has been several years since we have gone there due to the heavy traffic and people parking everywhere; so has it changed?

Last year was the first year I saw that the entrances were closed. They were barricaded in the parking area of the mall towards Kingsland Blvd right behind what used to be the restaurant Scholars and Scoundrels. This restaurant is no longer there, and they are renovating it to a new restaurant/bar. I don't believe it was because of the restaurant because several entrances were closed.

We have decided to avoid the crowds, mosquitoes, and heavy traffic this year. Instead, some of our friends are coming over to watch the televised Houston Fireworks.
