Celebrate Safely
Plan while you can. Drink. Drive. Go to Jail. Instead of getting behind the wheel, here are some alternative options from Ted Heap, Harris County Constable Precinct 5.
As Americans get ready to celebrate this nation's birthday, Constable Ted Heap's deputies and law enforcement officers across Texas will be increasing DWI patrols to identify and stop anyone driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They want you to have a great time but they will be doing everything they can to reduce the number of alcohol-related traffic crashes so that every can have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
“Drunk driving crashes are 100% preventable. There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel while impaired.” said Constable Heap. “They urge drivers to take the simple step of planning ahead for a sober ride. It’s a decision that can save a life.” #constabletedheap #yourconstable
Driving under the influence of alcohol not only risks death or serious injuries, but it can also be costly. Drivers can face up to $17,000 in fines and fees, jail time and loss of their driver’s license.
Instead of getting behind the wheel, here are some alternative options:
*Designate a sober driver.
*Contact a cab or ride-share service.
*Use mass transit.
*Spend the night.
