Katy Heritage Society 2022 ScholarshipsThe Katy Heritage Society is pleased to announce that they will be offering not one, but TWO $1,000 Scholarships this year.The Katy Lions Club is partnering with them to fund this second scholarship. Thank you, Lions Club!Application is due on October 1, 2022 and awarded on November 17, 2022. Katy was founded by hard working visionaries who settled wild prairie, opened businesses, and created opportunity. In the spirit of their founders this scholarship is open to anyone who is seeking education to provide for their family, advance in their career, learn a trade or pursue higher education.Katy Heritage Society Scholarship InstructionsThe objective of the Katy Heritage Society, a non-profit volunteer organization, is to protect and preserve Katy's historic resources. The scholarship is funded through proceeds from the book "Historic Katy" and, other fundraisers, and contributions made by members and friends of the Society.The Katy Heritage Society will award TWO (2) up to $1,000 scholarship in 2022.Eligibility• Participants must be enrolled or be seeking enrollment at an accredited community college, college, university, business, vocational, continuing education program or technical school and must reside or work within the geographic boundaries of the Katy Independent School District. While this scholarship is open to any age, it was distinctly created to provide an opportunity for adults or currently employed persons who wish to further their education. to advance their professional career or improve opportunities for those seeking to provide income to care for their families.Requirements• Participants must write an essay based on research concerned with some phase of Katy and/or the Katy area history. Topics may include notable persons.• The paper must incorporate original research.• The book, HISTORIC KATY, may not be a significant or main source of information.• All research must be accurately documented in the paper. Quoted, paraphrased, and summarized information must be credited.• Length of the paper is relevant to the content, there is no requirement for length, only that the content will contribute to the ongoing mission of the Society to preserve local history.Responsibilities of the Candidate• All research must be personally conducted by the candidate.
