Katy ISD’s Partners in Education has kicked off Food for Families program this school year
Katy ISD Partners in Education has kicked off the 19th annual Food for Families program with a $5,000 donation from new partner American Furniture Warehouse! Katy Facility Manager, Jacob Colby, said “AFW has been actively involved in our local communities for more than 40 years and that will continue here in Katy. We live here, our kids go to school here, and we believe in shaping the future through these giving efforts. We are proud to partner with Katy ISD to provide Food for Families in our community this holiday season.”
Food for Families allows the community to bring a little joy into the homes of Katy ISD students and their families. Campuses identify students for the program, and Partners in Education collects donations from the community and corporate partners like American Furniture Warehouse. Grocery gift cards, along with a note of support from the Katy ISD community, are then delivered to each student by a campus staff member. In the 2019 holiday season, Food for Families raised $37,000. Since its inception in 2002, this initiative has raised over $266,000 and assisted more than 5,600 families.
Those interested in supporting Food for Families can contribute online or via check, remitted to “Katy ISD Food for Families” and mailed to Partners in Education, Katy ISD ESC, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494.
Food for Families, a Katy ISD Partners in Education yearly initiative, unites Katy ISD staff and community in holiday support for select students and their families.
