Katy ISD Recognized for its Outstanding Financial Reporting
The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International awarded Katy ISD with a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting! To earn this award, applicants from around the world submit their reports for review by a team of financial professionals at ASBO who provide feedback to improve future documents.

KATY [June 30, 2021] – As one of the fast-growing school districts in the region, with more than 85,000 enrolled students, financial reporting and transparency are paramount at Katy Independent School District. This week those efforts were recognized with a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), an organization committed to providing programs, services and a global network that promotes the highest standards in school business.
“Achieving this recognition takes an extreme amount of hard work among our financial services employees and those individuals at each one of our campuses and facilities,” said Chris Smith, Katy ISD Chief Financial Officer. “Our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending in August 2020 is an important tool for building trust with our taxpayers and the school community,” added Smith.
Applicants from around the world submit their reports for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes. In addition to receiving multiple recognitions from financial institutions, the Katy ISD Financial Services Department has also made it a commitment to provide easy access to multiple financial documents and information through its Financial Services Webpage
