Happy Birthday to the City of Katy on this day in 1896!
On December 13, 1895, James Oliver Thomas acquired a forty-six-acre tract of land out of the southeast corner of the James J. Crawford survey and hired the surveying partnership of L.C. Luckel and P.M. Cash to lay out and plat a new town site along the rail line.
On January 23, 1896, the paperwork was filed. Thomas was named as the postmaster and Katy, Texas was recognized as a town.
