Counterfeit ID Operation Broken Up
Deputies from Constable Ted Heap's Office recently arrested two men and seized computers and equipment used to manufacture fraudulent drivers licenses and credit cards. Daniel Joseph McIver and Eric Berry were arrested on September 28 in the 300 block of Ronan Park Place on multiple felony charges, including identity theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Precinct 5 found boxes of stolen mail along with dozens of fraudulent drivers licenses and credit cards at the scene of the arrests. Several devices used to make fake identification cards and credit cards were found in the suspects' hotel room and seized as evidence.
Mciver, 29, was arrested on felony charges of identity theft, tampering with a government record and possession of a controlled substance. Berry, 26, was arrested on felony charges of identity theft and possession of a controlled substances.
Precinct 5 has been in contact with victims of these criminals, who may be tied to multiple other cases in the greater Houston area. Stolen mail has been turned over to the U.S. Postal Inspector so that it may be returned to its rightful owners. #constabletedheap #yourconstable
