Drought Conditions - Stage 2: How You Can Help
Drought Conditions - Stage 2: How You Can Help
The City of Katy is currently experiencing Stage 2 (moderate) drought conditions. This is due to extreme heat conditions with no rain forecast in the near future. The City of Katy is asking residents to assist the City with conserving water based on the City’s Drought Contingency Plan.
To assist, residents and businesses should:
- Continue exercising voluntary reduction of water usage as previously posted during Stage 1
- Reduce watering and/or irrigation to three (3) times per week
- Refrain from establishing new landscaping until the current drought has passed
- Reduce water use for power washing of buildings, sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, or other hard surfaces
To assist, the City of Katy is:
- Halting landscape irrigation use at all City facilities
- Halting nonessential government water use including: street cleaning, vehicle washing, operation of ornamental fountains
- Halting the establishment of new landscaping
- Limit hydrant flushing (except for water system repairs)
