The Precinct 5 Citizens Police Academy Registration is OpenConstable Ted Heap has opened registration for their next Citizens Police Academy, one of the most popular programs offered by the department. This 11-week course provides their "cadets" with a behind-the-scenes look at Precinct 5, going through much of the same training that their deputies receive while also being able to discuss in depth what is taught. Questions and conversations are encouraged as they move through the course, from use-of-force to arrests, firearms training and driving in a real patrol car on an emergency vehicle operations course.The upcoming class will be held once a week, mostly on Thursday nights, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. starting on February 16th. Most of the classes will be held at their Precinct 5 headquarters, 17423 Katy Freeway near Barker Cypress.The Pct. 5 Citizens Police Academy, Class C5-1322 is set to begin Wed. February 16th. Please take note that the first week is the only Wed. night on the schedule. Beginning the following week, Feb 24th, they will revert to Thurs. nights for the remaining weeks. Graduation for this class is scheduled for April 28th, 2022.Due to limited seating, demand for the course, and the progressive nature of the academy, they ask that you make every effort to attend each of the scheduled 11 weeks. If you anticipate missing more than 1 session please consider waiting for a future class and allow someone else to enroll in class C5-1322.By submitting an application you acknowledge that a background check will be conducted and that acceptance to the Citizen’s Police Academy is contingent upon its findings.
