Register below for Constable Ted Heap's Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events class “How To Respond To An Active Shooter.”

Active shooter events have become all too common these days. What would you do if you found yourself in such an unpredictable and chaotic situation? What should you do to protect yourself and your loved ones?

For years, Constable Ted Heap's deputies have been training businesses, churches and schools how to protect themselves and survive an active shooter event. Recently, they opened those classes to everyday citizens.
They will be hosting their next free class on the evening of Thursday, January 13th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Radack Community Center, 18650 Clay Road. Class size is limited.

This is great information, it is always better to be prepared and know what to do in any situation. I will definitely sign up for this one.

Good information, and sadly, it's needed at this time.

Too bad it couldn't be done as a Zoom or similar online session. Covid is alive and well. My wife and I are self quarantined, as the people we were visiting on Christmas Eve, we learned were anti vax people. On Monday night we got a call from one of them: had just been diagnosed with Covid and suggested we get a test done. Well the tests have become highly questionable of late with omicron, so we're just going to stay home for a while. HEB delivers. So do pizza sellers. We have lots of exercise equipment and a pool, so we can survive. I won't risk being a carrier by going into a class environment, even though we've had three shots.

Some people say the best way to deal with possible active shooters is more armed and trained citizens. According to two CDC studies, between 2.5 and 3 million times a year, an armed citizen stops or prevents a crime and in most cases without firing a shot. You don't even need a license any more to legally carry a gun, although I would HIGHLY recommend getting training, and also possibly taking the License to Carry class before you carry.

@BowsKaty : I agree, too bad it isn't via zoom. Too much Covid testing right now to go out and sit with the masses. 🤢

Thank you for this great information.
It is possible that this class requires hands-on participation by every person attending, and is difficult to teach/demonstrate on Zoom.
With Covid cases on the rise, I, too, would prefer a Zoom class instead of an in person class.
