Katy ISD families and staff have faced today’s circumstances with courage and resilience, and a focus on doing what is best for students. It’s been a long road — one that is deserving of pause and reflection. That is why at the March Special Board meeting, Superintendent Gregorski recommended a student and staff holiday on April 5, 2021. This Board item was approved by Trustees and will extend the student and staff holiday weekend beginning on Friday, April 2 through Monday, April 5. This year, this school district is in the rare position of being able to meet the Texas Education Agency’s instructional minutes requirement, without having to use the extra days embedded in the instructional calendar for emergency events. It is because of this that such a recommendation was possible.
