The City of Katy COVID-19 Back-to-School Safety Tips
If you're a parent, you've likely spent the entire summer reminding your child about the importance of everyday precautions like social distancing, wearing a mask and washing their hands often. Back-to-school is usually a stressful time, but the COVID-19 pandemic has added additional challenges. Whether you're face-to-face, virtual or homeschooling, continue to educate children on the safety measures that help slow the spread of the virus. But it is also important to listen to your child's concerns. Whether it's about having to wear a mask at school or frustrations with technology at home, make sure you're listening intently, empathizing often and helping your child cope with his or her feelings in a reassuring manner.
Also remind children to keep their masks over their nose & mouth at all times. If a classmate pulls down their face mask to make funny faces, remind your child to not do the same, and to always think safety first.
