The Harris County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a couple of related incidents in the Katy area earlier this week that led to the shooting death of a 17 year old.
According to reports form the Harris County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, November 25, at approximately 11:40 pm, HCSO deputies responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of Katy Fort Bend Rd. in west Harris County.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim lying in the rear seat of a vehicle, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies spoke with three other occupants of the vehicle who stated they were lost and driving in a nearby neighborhood when someone begin shooting at them. The occupants stated they fled from the shooting scene until they were able to flag down a deputy for assistance.
While conducting their investigation, deputies received a second shooting call at an apartment complex in the 24000 block of Katy Ranch Rd. Deputies responded to that scene and discovered ballistic evidence of a shooting.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit responded to the scene and determined the victim and other occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with several unknown black males prior to the shooting. Investigators were also able to determine the two scenes were in fact connected.
The deceased victim was identified as 17-year-old Jakobi Xavier Mitchell.
