The City of Katy will be conducting a smoke testing survey, which is part of their Sanitary Sewer maintenance program. This allows them to detect and repair any infiltrations in the system.
Testing is scheduled to happen (weather permitting) on Wednesday August 21 and Thursday, August 22 between the hours of 8 AM to 4 PM.
Testing on Wednesday, August 21 will be on the following streets: Auburn, Baylor, Clemson and Town Park Blvd (from Clemson to Katy Hockley Cut Off)
Testing on Thursday, August 22 will be on the following streets: Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton, Exeter, Fordham, Georgetown and Town Park Blvd. (from Georgetown East to Clemson.)
Please make arrangements or leave access to your back yard by leaving a gate unlocked or open and put up all animals. Public Works employees will need to determine if smoke comes up from the sanitary main in these areas. The smoke testing material is biodegradable and is not harmful to humans or pets. In the event you should experience any smoke inside your home; through any plumbing fixtures during this testing, you will need to contact a plumber to investigate. Should the smoke enter into your home, this would mean that sewer gas may be entering your premises where the smoke comes in.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the City of Katy Public Works Department at 281-391-4820 between the hours of 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.
