Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap is asking for your help locating the driver of a red Toyota Highlander, who was involved in suspicious incident in the 24900 block of Morton Road in Katy this past weekend.
According to reports from PCT 5, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, a 10-year-old girl was approached in the parking lot by a man offering to help get a bug off her shirt. When she avoided him, the man told her repeatedly that he wasn't going to hurt her. The girl's father saw the encounter and, as he arrived at his car, the suspect returned to a red Toyota Highlander parked nearby, and left the parking lot. The suspect was heard repeating that he didn't do anything wrong. The child's father was able to get a picture of the SUV as it left the parking lot.
Upon further investigation, however, Precinct 5 deputies discovered the license plate on the suspect's vehicle did not match the vehicle to which it belonged. The vehicle does have some distinguishing characteristics, including a "Who Dat" sticker in the upper middle portion of the rear window, and a bike rack attached to the tow hitch.
The suspect is described as a large white male, 6-foot to 6-foot-2 inches tall, weighing 220-240 pounds. He has brown hair and a salt-and-pepper beard. He was wearing eyeglasses and a blue-gray shirt at the time of the incident. No charges have been filed regarding this incident, but Precinct 5 deputies would like to locate the man driving this vehicle to discuss the encounter.
If you recognize this vehicle or have any information which may help with the investigation, PCT 5 asks you to contact Investigator Chad Seidel at 281-463-6666 or let them know by visiting
