Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who used someone else's identity to purchase a vehicle.
According to reports from PCT 4, on February 19, 2019, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman's Office was dispatched to a reported vehicle theft within the 20400 block of the North Freeway.
The investigation and video surveillance revealed that a male came into the dealership accompanied by an adult female and provided a fictitious driver's license with someone else's personal information on it. The male was able to purchase a vehicle with this information and leave the dealership.
The vehicle was equipped with a factory GPS tracking device where it was showing to be within the 5300 block of South Mason Road in Katy. Investigators with Constable Mark Herman's Office traveled to this location where they were able to locate the vehicle along with the female who was seen in the video surveillance footage with the suspect at the time of the transaction.
The female identified the male suspect as Martin Patton to investigators. A Photographic line up was compiled and shown to several witnesses at the dealership who were able to positively identify Martin Patton as the suspect who purchased the vehicle.
"Martin Patton is currently wanted by law enforcement for two counts of Fraudulent Use / Possession of Identifying Information and Tampering with a Government Record. He received No Bond out of the 338th District Court.
