According to reports from PCT 5, on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at approximately 6:00 AM, a Harris County PCT 5 Deputy Constable attempted to conduct a traffic stop at N. State Highway 6 and the Katy Freeway. The driver of a gold Buick sedan had allegedly made an improper turn. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued on N. State Highway 6 reaching speeds of up to 90 mph and ran a red light during the pursuit. The suspect lost control of his vehicle and struck a gray minivan. After striking the minivan, the suspect continued losing control of his sedan and hit a glass front door of a business in the 5300 block of N. State Highway 6. The vehicle came to a stop at this location.

The driver of the vehicle exited with a silver handgun and fired several rounds towards our deputy. The suspect dropped the gun and ran east through the parking lot. The deputy was not hit and did not fire his weapon. Harris County PCT 5 Deputies set up a perimeter and a PCT 5 K9 was deployed at the scene, but unfortunately the suspect was not located.

Harris County PCT 5 Investigators processed the scene and recovered a 40 Caliber handgun. The gun was checked and determined to be stolen. A bullet hole was found in the front bumper of the patrol car.

Harris County PCT 5 Constable Ted Heap is asking for the public's help identifying this suspect.

"Anyone who shoots at a peace officer has no conscience and is willing to kill. We need to get this suspect behind bars as soon as possible before he hurts someone else," said Constable Heap. "Thank God our deputy is okay."

Please take a look at the video below and see if you can help PCT 5 locate this suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to call Harris County PCT 5 Investigations at 832-927-6746 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Reference case #1809-00393.
