2 Suspects involved in Theft and Credit Card abuse in Katy
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in locating two suspects involved in theft and credit card abuse that occurred on April 16, 2023.
While shopping at Kroger located at 1550 W. Grand Parkway S. in Katy, TX, a victim reported that an unknown Black female (Suspect #1) approached them and began a conversation. Using the conversation as a distraction, Suspect #1 removed the victim’s wallet from their purse and exited the Kroger store.
A short time later, Suspect #1 and Suspect #2 were captured on surveillance cameras at a nearby Target store in Cinco Ranch, where they used the victim’s credit card to purchase multiple pre-paid gift cards.
Anyone with information regarding the identities of the above-pictured suspects is asked to contact the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477)
I also hope that people--primarily women, obviously--take note. Please, secure your valuables when out in public. A zipped or buttoned purse could be a deterrent to this kind of easy theft. Shoulder strap is desirable. Don't leave a purse in your shopping cart and walk away for even a couple seconds. Finally, situational awareness is key EVERYWHERE. In a store, in a parking lot, on a sidewalk. Head on a swivel, looking around...not focused on a smartphone screen!!! Look around and have your keys in your hand as you approach your car. Get in, lock the doors, and go.
Yes, I really hope these thieves get caught. Of course, this is modern time, so they'll likely not spend more than a couple hours in custody, even if they are caught, and they'll be out and at it again.
